The City of Jackson, Missouri was first founded in 1814. Jackson takes delight in the fact that it was the first community to be named after former President Andrew Jackson. Due to this fact, Jackson is currently the oldest town name Jackson throughout the United States. The Jackson Historic District
Located in uptown Jackson on Main and High Street, the Jackson Historic District is a sight to see! As of February 1, 2006, the Jackson Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the National Park Service. The district is located around the Courthouse Square. The Historic District Committee of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce is currently working to gain funding for the enhancement and renovation of many of the businesses located in this area.
Main Street Lanes

Old McKendree Chapel
Considered the oldest Protestant church structure standing west of the Mississippi River, the Old McKendree Chapel can be found listed in the National Archives of the Methodist Church as well as the National Register of Historic Places in the United States. The Old McKendree Chapel and Cemetery are open everyday during daylight hours and there is no admission charge. The Chapel itself can be found at 4080 Bainbridge Road near Jackson. Pinecrest Azalea Gardens
Open throughout the months of March, April, and May, the Pinecrest Azalea Gardens are truly a wonder to behold. Sprinkled with azaleas, rhododendrons, holly, and over 3,000 other plants, the Pinecrest Azalea Gardens are open to the public free of charge. Open only during daylight hours, you can enjoy a leisurely drive through or meander along the paths.
